Miniature Bull Terrier Breeders

Early Miniature Bull Terrier breeders created a smaller dog to have the best qualities of the full-sized Bull Terrier in a more manageable animal. Both varieties of the breed can be used as pets, playmates for children, service animals for the disabled, guards, and watchdogs. The aggression of their ancestors is bred out of the present-day Bull Terriers. Actually, Bull Terriers were not successful in pit fighting and bull baiting. These cruel sports were banned right after the breed was developed. From the very beginning, Bull Terriers found popularity as family companions and working dogs. They were used as guards, ratters, and herders.

Miniature Bull Terrier breeders who produce very small dogs have to provide them with the best possible care. The size of an adult Miniature Bull Terrier is about 10-14 inches at the withers; the weight is about 24-33 pounds. Miniature Bull Terrier puppies are very fragile and susceptible to injuries.

Generally healthy, Bull Terriers are prone to several hereditary disorders; some of them are lethal. Some bloodlines of this breed can suffer from a zinc deficiency, hip dysplasia, cancer, and skin allergies. Miniature Bull Terrier breeders should screen the breeding stock very carefully to prevent serious hereditary disorders in the puppies. Male Bull Terriers of a Standard and Miniature size can be very territorial and aggressive to other dogs. Neutering can solve this problem and other behavior problems.

The Miniature Bull Terrier is not a dog for anyone. Mild and mellow people with no dog ownership experience should not obtain a pet of this breed. Though small in size, these dogs are very strong, courageous, independent and very intelligent. They need early socialization and obedience training. Much in the personality of a dog depends on the breeder. Responsible Miniature Bull Terrier breeders care about the health and personality of their future puppies and choose only the best breeding stock.

Though the Miniature Bull Terrier doesn’t need a large fenced yard and much room indoors, it cannot do without human company. Dogs of this breed make good pets only in the right hands. Responsible Miniature Bull Terrier breeders never sell their puppies to those who are not ready to own a Bull Terrier.
