This is a thick-set, muscular and well-proportioned animal, that has a short, dense coat varying in color from pure white, black, brindle, red, fawn and tri-color. The most distinctive feature of the dog is its head that is almost flat at the top, sloping evenly down to the end of the nose with no stop.
